Vila Velika is located at the end of Sertić Poljana, a hamlet on the edge of the Plitvice Lakes National Park. While from the front you can see the neighboring houses and the outline of a typical village at the gates of Lika, from the back there is a view of Plješivica, and on clear days you can see Velebit itself in the distance. And not a single roof or anything what was created by the human hand can't be seen behind the house as far as the eye can see.
On 120 square meters that are completely made of wood inside and out, there is everything needed for a comfortable stay for both large and small, although here so much space and content outside that most days are actually spent outside the house. The only stone is the terrace with the outside porch, on which it was placed shower. So the house is completely made of natural materials.
In addition to the Villa Velika itself, there is also an auxiliary building on the plot, which has two rooms, one intended for logistics, firewood and other larger necessities that one house in Lika has during the year.

Building a modern and functional wooden house while retaining some of the traditional appearance of a Lika village house was our personal imperative. That's why, in the construction of this wooden beauty, nothing was left to chance, either outside or inside.
The entire kitchen, dining area, some walls, and wooden floors are handcrafted from wood. Along with numerous rustic details, such as a chandelier made from an old cartwheel and a restored yoke for oxen now serving as decoration, there is also a fully restored, reassembled, and highly functional cast iron stove that heats the entire house in winter.
The bedrooms are simple and spacious, and they too are decorated in a wooden style, just like everything else in the house. The staircase is made of cherry wood, the bathroom mirror is framed with oak, and the walls are made of larch. Special attention was given during construction to ensure that optimal temperature can be maintained both in warm summers and cold Lika winters. Therefore, between the outer laminated wooden walls and the inner larch walls, there is an additional ten centimeters of insulation wool.

Plitvice Lakes is the oldest and largest national park in the Republic of Croatia. The process of travertine formation, which creates travertine barriers and forms lakes, represents a unique universal value for which Plitvice Lakes was internationally recognized on October 26, 1979, by being inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The lake system of Plitvice Lakes consists of 16 named and numerous smaller, cascading lakes. Due to the geological substrate and characteristic hydrogeological conditions, the lake system is divided into the Upper and Lower Lakes.
